A quieter morning.
Twenty unhurried minutes before the day asks anything of you.
The morning sets the tone for everything after it. A quieter one does not need an early alarm. It needs a few minutes that belong to you before the phone comes out.
Make the first thing a pleasure
Good coffee or tea in a cup you love. The same chair by the same window. Ten pages of a book, or nothing at all.
Leave the phone in another room
The news, the inbox and the group chat will all still be there in twenty minutes. Nothing is improved by reading them first.
Write one line
One sentence in a notebook: what you want from today, or something you noticed yesterday. It takes thirty seconds and, over a year, becomes a lovely record.
Then go
To the 7:30 class, the office or the garden. The quiet comes with you.
